GCMS-QP2010 Plus What happens when there is a carrier gas leak during analysis?

Carrier gas leakage during GCMS-QP2010 Plus analysis can be roughly divided into two situations:

(1) Large air leakage occurs in the carrier gas path

Because the pressure of the carrier gas is higher than the atmospheric pressure, the carrier gas leakage usually does not affect the vacuum system.

For larger leaks, AFC (Automatic Flow Control) cannot automatically adjust pressure and flow normally, and the instrument displays an error message of carrier gas leaks. At the same time, the temperature of the injection port and the column oven are automatically cooled. No need to do any operation on the MS part. At this time, the temperature of each part will return to the initial value.

(2) There is a small air leak in the carrier gas path

The analysis process continues. In most cases, trace air leakage will not affect the analysis results, but the mixed air and possible sample loss will affect the components in some samples, and normal data cannot be obtained.

For the above two situations, the mixed air may damage the stationary phase and ion source of the chromatographic column. Usually we use replacing the chromatographic column, aging the chromatographic column, and cleaning the ion source to solve these problems.
