Event review: On May 24, relevant parties in Taiwan notified the AQSIQ that they found that the food additive "clouding agent" manufactured and sold by Taiwan "Yushen Perfume Co., Ltd." contained the chemical component phthalic acid bis (2- Ethylhexyl) lipid (DEHP), this "clouding agent" has been used in the production and processing of some beverages and other products. As of the 29th, the survey results showed that there were nearly 500 items of contaminated food in Taiwan, and even cold syrups used in children had been reported to contain plasticizers.
"Clouding agent" is a legal food additive that can help emulsify food. It is mostly used in fruit juices, beverages, jelly and yogurt powder, so that beverages can avoid the oil and water layer and look more uniform. In order to save costs, some unscrupulous manufacturers have replaced palm oil with plasticizers (DEHP). DEHP is an environmental hormone that can harm male reproductive ability, promote precocious puberty in women, harm the human reproductive system and may even cause cancer.
In response to this incident, Dima Technology Analysis Technology Center quickly made corresponding analysis and testing solutions, hoping to help your testing work.
Determination of Phthalate Esters (PAEs) in Water
——Serial Number: P110
1. Scope of application
Suitable for dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), dipropyl phthalate (DPrP), butyl benzyl phthalate in environmental water and drinking water (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), dipentyl phthalate (DPP), dicyclohexyl phthalate (DCHP), dihexyl phthalate (DHP) and ortho Detection of (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP).
2. Purification
ProElut PLS Glass 200 mg/6 mL (Cat.#68012G)
a Activation: 6 mL methyl tert-butyl ether, 6 mL methanol activation, 6 mL water balance;
b Sample loading: Add 500 mL of sample to the column, flow rate ≤ 15 mL/min, and discard the effluent;
c Rinse: Rinse with 3 mL of 5% methanol aqueous solution, and discard the eluent;
d Elution: 3 mL methanol, 6 mL methyl tert-butyl ether elution, collect the eluate;
e Re-dissolve: * Distill the eluent to dryness under reduced pressure at 30°C, dissolve the residue in 1 mL of acetonitrile, filter it with a membrane, and supply it for HPLC analysis.
*e steps are for reference, users can make adjustments according to the analytical instruments they use
